Although my family was not a military one, I have lived in various places around the United States. I was born a Yankee from New Jersey. I have a wonderful husband and three fabulous grown sons with two terrific daughters-in-law. Our family is growing, as the youngest son is engaged to a peach of a girl. We are also expecting our first grandchild in the new year!
As a young adult, I was a pastry chef. I enjoyed being a full-time mom until my youngest son entered school. Not wanting to go back to my former career, I attended Winthrop University in South Carolina and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Two months after graduating, our family left our small town moved to Colorado Springs. I accepted a teaching position at Douglass Valley Elementary, where I have been happily teaching for 16 years. I taught for Kindergarten for 9 years, then "graduated" to First Grade. I love what I do and get tremendous satisfaction from playing such an important role in the growth of DVE's amazing students! In addition, I feel extremely honored to serve the families who so selflessly serve our country.
When I am not working, I like to dance, garden, read, and enjoy time with family and friends.
