Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
On behalf of the staff, please let us welcome you to Douglass Valley Elementary School! As we look to begin the 2019-2020 school year, we are energized and entirely dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic and social emotional expectations for all students and providing multiple tiers of student support (MTSS) to ensure they are met. We promote the development of thinking and problem solving skills, as well as critical social and emotional skills. We will strive to make sure that our students at Douglass Valley Elementary become respectful and resilient learners with a firm foundation of integrity and compassion. We recognize that none of these things are possible without a positive and collaborative school culture. As your students' principals, we are committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and fun school environment. Our core values reflect this commitment:
P- Participate Responsibly
A- Act Kindly
W- Work Hard
S- Show Respect
We are overjoyed to be in a place where staff strive to recognize the potential in all learners and translate that into performance.
We welcome and encourage families to become active members of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Our PTO provides a variety of activities that enrich educational experiences, offer opportunities for increased community engagement, as well as giving our teachers resources they need to help ensure students' success. From helping with events, to volunteering in classrooms, parent involvement is always a value add to our school culture. Communication and collaboration are key for continuous success and while we are excited to offer updates and communicate via e-mail and phone calls, it is face-to-face interactions that we value most. We, along with our staff, are here to listen to your questions, suggestions, or ideas. Any situation of concern regarding your child is a concern of ours.
We are excited and challenged by the prospect of changing students' lives and growing a school where every single child's needs are articulated and addressed. We want to again welcome all of you and thank you for being a part of the Douglass Valley Community. We are looking forward to building relationships with students, families and our community as a whole. Together we will make the 2019-2020 school year the most successful year yet!
